  Currently Working On…

  Hi folks!

  Other than making a start on Confirmation, I’m currently working on ‘All The Things You Are’. I’ve been working on playing long form cells over the chord changes, which has been a lot of fun. I’ve almost finished transcribing Al Cohn improvising over ‘All The Things You Are’ from his Album, ‘No Problem’, and whoooooo boy is it a killer solo!

  My favourite recording to listen to at the moment is Turk Mauro’s ‘Hey Jacques‘. It’s got a really cool vibe. But my favourite recording of all time is Al Cohn doing Skylark with Barry Harris – it tugs at my heart strings every time.

  I’m just playing a student Yamaha Tenor, because I can’t really afford a more expensive kit. It does the job, so I’m not fussed. I have paired it with a Better Sax Burnin’ mouthpiece and Vandoren Green Java reeds. I’m pretty happy with my sound at the moment.

  I can’t wait to hear your new recordings Steve. That’s so exciting!
